We are doing it Live!
Hello There!
My name is Valentine!
You can also call me under my creative pseudonym "the outside man".
I am not a game developer, not a designer, not a programmer, nothing. Not yet anyway, that's the goal. I work in the government service industry as a para-legal of sorts. I did go to an IT technical school about 15 years ago so at best, you may call me a computer super user. For more than a year now, I have been feeling like my workplace has been dragging me down (I love my job, just not the place and the people). It doesn't help that I am not exactly in a spot that I thought that I would be 10 years ago, I thought I would have achieved more by now. I also want to work in a field that"creates". I want to be able to look at something that I have done, at the end of the day. So about a year ago I bought GM2 and decided to give it a try. Video games have always been my number one recreation, and I would love to work in this industry someday. I spent months watching video tutorials and following whole game creation playlists. This is my third project overall, but my first one that I decided to showcase and fully develop mainly because everything is done by me from scratch, this was not done by tracing, or re-skinning some tutorial.
The game for now is called Tiles and Troops. It's an top-down RTS game inspired by an old Kongregate game I played during IT classes in primary school called Mud and Blood 2. For now the game features a UI, 5 troop types, 5 buildings, 4 enemy types, and a very basic economy. The map is somewhat consciously designed, with an object based (yet I call it) "tile" system.
All the basic systems are in (I think), now I need feedback to see if they work as intended. It took a few months to put this together and i have a long term development plan for it which I intend to post here on a semi regular basis, since I have a day-job.
Thank you for your time and attention that you gave to my page, and enjoy Tiles and Troops version 1.0.
Sincerely, - the outside man
